On May 16, 2003, we opened the doors of our restaurant at the first cove of the South Costa Brava, in the municipality of Blanes, in the Selva region. In this unique spot, surrounded by cliffs, you will find a simple yet exquisite cuisine. In addition to our famous sit-down breakfasts featuring lobster, champagne, and “xuixo de crema”, we offer you delicious seafood platters and grilled fish and seafood for lunch.
The restaurant is located at Cala Sant Francesc, an exceptional natural setting surrounded by pine trees. As you can see in the photographs, the beach features rocky formations near the shore that make it an ideal place for snorkeling, thanks to its clear waters and the rich variety of marine fauna and flora.
Very close by, the Es Viver rocks, once a traditional lobster hold, continue to be privileged spots for angling. Moreover, about 120 meters out to sea, the rocky reefs known as Es Niell de Cala Bona complete this unique maritime landscape.

The First Stone
Our restaurant, Cala Bona, was born in 2002 as the result of the passion and dedication of a Blanes family rooted in the local gastronomic tradition. On Tuesday, February 4, 2003, we began the construction work, and on Friday, May 16 of the same year we officially inaugurated the restaurant. From the laying of the first stone, we have worked with effort and enthusiasm to create a space that reflects the essence of our land and culture.
The name Cala Bona is an homage to the former name of an emblematic spot in Blanes
which, since the 17th century, has been a safe haven for local fishermen. The term “bona” highlights the natural protection that this cove offers against the winds, providing a reliable shelter for boats. This traditional denomination has endured in the memory of the locals over time.
We are deeply proud of what we have built up to today, from the very foundations to the present, keeping the tradition alive and offering our customers an authentic gastronomic experience rooted in the history of Blanes.
